First Grade and a Farewell to Summer

September 8, 2013

This week, my sweet babies  big kids donned their backpacks and went back to school.

I had a huge lump in my throat as I watched my oldest run to catch up with a group of kids and enter the building. I’m hoping for a wonderful year. Our move last April was hard on everyone…but we’ve had a wonderful summer and I think that we are ready to dig in and make the NE our home.

BTW? The summer was AWESOME.

We went to the races, we went to the lake, we went to the beach. There were trips to theme parks and picnics with fireworks. Morgan paddled a canoe and made sand castles.

We made new friends and reconnected with family.

Jeremy and I went white water rafting, and spent a weekend at his college reunion.

Boat rides, roller coasters, sandcastles, campfires, canoes, park dates, splash pads, museums, art classes.

One Awesome Summer.

And now, the start of a new school year!

Children do tend to grow up, don’t they? You certainly had a grand summer together as a family before this major stepping stone. Solid momming! ^5
