Morgan at 5 Years

July 23, 2012

My guy is five. FIVE.

Has it really been over four years since we brought you home?

I waited my whole life to love you…and now I cannot imagine a single day without you in my world. I remember not being able to sleep at all the night before we boarded the plane from Hanoi to DaNang to meet you. My legs felt like jello when we walked into the orphanage and my heart was pounding. I remember seeing your little face and just melting into tears. Perfect. Beautiful. My sweet boy.

You learned early that life isn’t always fair…but you bounce back and make me so very proud. Your capacity for love and hope remind me that we can do anything in this life. We learned together–how to be a family.

You are a wonderful son and a terrific big brother. You are adored by your teachers and keep us all laughing with your silliness and antics. You love costumes and hats and make believe. I enjoy watching you play and seeing your creativity emerge.

You love: dinosaurs, cars, super heroes, legos, reading, singing, making crafts, listening to any and all types of music. You are still nervous about riding a bike, but I know that we will get there. This summer I watched you conquer the lake and begin to enjoy the ocean. You are a bit wary by nature and cautious like most older siblings can be. That’s ok…someone has to be the responsible one 😉

You surprised us by doing so well in Pre K this year…

Since you enjoy being silly at home, we had no idea how well you had done in class all year 🙂 Your teacher reassured us that you are writing, counting, learning, and even know a few sight words.

You loved playing soccer this year.

Here’s a sample of your handwriting…you were writing “secret messages” to me at Cracker Barrel.

ps. the secret message is “Bacon”

At your soccer celebration with Milo

You are a wonderful friend, my favorite lunch date…and a whole lot of fun! I love you, Mo!
