Leighton: a Belated 2 Year Update

July 20, 2012

A few words on the bug…

She’s Smart. Knows her ABC’s and how to count to 20! Just ask her and she will happily entertain you with songs and dance. My girl loves the spot light and keeps us all laughing with her silly stories and antics. Her favorite activities are coloring with markers and playing with her dolls. She is an excellent “doll mommy”. I can’t help but smile when I see her feeding, changing, and rocking her babies. She has a set of triplets named “Kaylee, Asher, and Kaylee”. I love it when she piles all three of her girls into her doll stroller and takes them for a walk. They have sippy cups and snacks and she fusses over them every few feet.

She’s fiery.  This is a glimpse of her famous “Whatchyou talkin bout?” look. Quick to anger, even quicker to forgive. Leighton is fierce with love, anger, and joy. At two years old, all emotions are bubbling around the surface and we will have to work on her patience! She has us all wrapped around her little finger and she knows it.

She walks and talks like she’s slightly older. She tackles a playground without fear and I don’t have to hover very often.  In typical little sister fashion, she will follow her big brother to the tallest slides and scorn the “baby” areas at the park.

Loves the water–insists on “Fwoating on her back”

Adores her big brother–still tells me that Morgan is her best friend. Quick to clobber him if he ticks her off.

So beautiful that she takes my breath away.

Leighton is GIRLY. Her favorite color is pink. She has an opinion on every single outfit that she wears and will often choose the big poufy dresses and skirts over more practical clothes. The only exception is her brother’s hand me downs. She rocks anything that belongs to Morgan without a single complaint. Right now, she loves his green adidas soccer shoes…if only they fit!

She’s 25 lbs and about 30 inches tall. I am delighted that she still has two little chubby baby wrinkles on her legs. I know that they will soon disappear because she is constantly on the move.

Love my girl!

Beautifully written, Jennifer! The ‘bug’ is beautiful, Morgan is precious — a special gift — and they are just so darling together. You have been graced with many blessings! I always enjoy reading your posts, so keep up the good writing!
