Reluctant Potty Training Mommy
Here we go again!
This weekend, the L bug has decided it is time for her to use the potty. For months, we’ve been humoring her and allowing her to sit on Morgan’s potty seat any time that she feels like it. And now, girlfriend has done her business!
It started Thursday night with the bug being fully determined to make it happen. She sat patiently on her little potty clutching a square of toilet paper. We waited…we waited some more. Finally, I tried to get her to come with me into the kitchen while I made dinner.
“Pee” she insisted…grabbing the sides of the potty and keeping her chubby backside firmly planted. “PEEEEE”
“Ok” I told her. “I’m going into the kitchen–let me know if you need any help.”
A few moments later my girl came toddling down the hall with her pants between her ankles and a victorious look on her face. “MoOOMMM! PEEEEE”
She’s done it every day since! I cannot believe it! I thought that we had at least another 6 months…possibly much more before we would be facing the end of cute dresses with tights…onesies and jeans…or any clothes that are too difficult to potty in. Now, I find myself surfing the web for toddler beds and facing the reality that my baby is indeed growing up. I’m so not ready. She is our last baby. I wanted to enjoy it just a bit longer. Even though changing diapers is gross and expensive…it’s still part of her being little.
My mom keeps pushing me to accept the reality and “go with it” lest she lose her momentum.
So today, Daddy brought home some princess pull ups.
We’re going for it 🙂
