NaBloPoMo2011: Thanksgiving Menu–a preview

November 21, 2011

I’m sitting at the computer enjoying the hunt for holiday recipes and feeling the need to edit down all of the fantastic looking dishes that I have found.

So far, we have:

Appetizers:

Salad:

  • To be determined….

Entrees:

  • Roast Turkey and Gravy (courtesy of my sweet friend P)
  • Honey Baked Ham (J’s one request)

Sides:

Green Beans with Caramelized ShallotsPhoto: Courtesy of Allrecipes.com
  •  Mashed Potatoes
  • Bourbon Sweet Potatoes (courtesy of my sweet friend P)
  • Cornbread dressing (My grandmother’s recipe)
  • Green Beans with Caramelized Shallots (Southern Living)
  • Baked Corn Casserole (a southern fave that I got out of an old church cookbook with terrible editing and seriously old school recipes) It’s a true Paula Dean style dish with tons of butter and cheese. Every year I tell myself that I will not make it…and then I cave. I think once a year is fine for something with this much saturated fat and cholesterol…and cheesy goodness.
  • Roasted Brussels Sprouts (that is…if anyone besides myself will actually eat them. Oh how I love them!)

Desserts:

Not sure. Everyone knows that I stink at desserts. My friends Kiersten and Paige are supposed to be helping me figure this out and I am very excited to see what they come up with. I know that there are also three signature cocktails for the big day 🙂

And yes…Kelley O! There will be lots of wine! xoxo

Maybe I’ll start with half a batch. Salty, sweet, cheesy… it even sounds good at 8AM!

Sounds like a perfect menu! And those “devils on horseback” sound amazing!

ps – I always use blackberry preserves w/ my baked brie…
