Home Sweet Home

May 9, 2011

We had a lovely week of vacation in south Florida…lazy days spent at the pool or the beach. This is actually the closest I came to a decent photo of my little fish the entire week! Morgan kicked and paddled daily in the pool, enjoying every minute of the warm water and sunshine.

The L bug surprised us all by loving the pool just as much as her brother. She even tackled the baby slide at a local water park and giggled happily while her much more reserved older brother refused to get near it.

Here’s a shot of my girl showing off her cute bikini and her frizzy hair from the humidity. Sigh…I think she’ll have her mama’s unruly mane.

We had a blast visiting Jeremy’s family for the week. Leighton got to meet her grandpa Leo for the first time. He’s 98! It was wonderful to see 4 generations of our family together πŸ™‚

I enjoyed a break from diet and exercise and was thrilled to get home and weigh half a pound less than when I left. We were active in the water and walked in the evenings…but I still enjoyed some lobster and banana coconut cream pie…even a few slices of classic NY style pizza.

My trainer was excited to have me back as well. We did tons of lunges and squats today–keeping my heart rate high. I pushed 50 lbs of weight across the gym floor several times while doing an exercise called a “lawn mower” and I feel motivated to keep going and get the last 5-8 lbs off!

Jeremy’s mom remarked that my posture was much better and made me feel great about the changes. I had to buy a smaller bathing suit on the trip–I very nearly had a heart attack when I got into a small. I cannot say enough about the benefits of strength training. Even though I’ve only lost about 6 lbs, I’ve gone down 2 sizes. AMAZING.

Happy (belated) Mother’s Day. Can these two get any cuter??

BRAVO!!! I’m so impressed that you got to buy a smaller bathing suit! What an ego boost, eh?
And crazy-ness about the weight loss while on vacation – I lost two pounds when we were in Mexico, and sadly gained one of those back upon our return. Go figure. πŸ™‚

Happy mother’s day! Sounds like a perfect family vacation! And way to go with the smaller sized bathing suit! Woot woot!
