Challenge: Lose the Baby Weight. WEEK 5. Weighing In

April 25, 2011

No weight loss for the second week in a row.

I blame Easter–with it’s chocolatey goodness. I blame ham…rum cake…and scalloped potatoes.

I stuck to my workouts, but my diet completely fell short.

This week’s topic? Accountability.

When working as a dietitian, all of my patients came to this point at one time or another. They were active, eating healthy for the most part…and nothing was happening. I always gave them the same advice. Take a week–write down every bite you take and every minute of activity and study it.

Writing down your food and activity serves two purposes. It makes you aware of what is happening and it makes you accountable. I may have had a salad for lunch, but the benefits were lost when I snagged a few Reese’s peanut butter eggs in the afternoon. My run was cancelled out by a cheese burger…etc…When I know that every bite has to be accounted for I think twice before the handful of pretzels with Morgan in the afternoon or choose an apple over chips. It keeps me focused.

I have one week left before our first vacation, so my vow is to write down my food intake this week and to be accountable.

Good luck everyone!

For anyone with an iphone, ipad, etc you might try using “Tap and Track-Calorie Tracker” it is $3.99, but well worth the price in my opinion. I had been making an effort to eat better smaller meals. What I found by using this app is that not all my choices have been as good as I thought. In the two weeks I have been using the app I lost 1.5 lbs per week. It was also a nice reminder that I may not have made the best choices during one meal it didn’t mean my entire day was a loss.

great suggestion! I am so proud of you šŸ™‚ Way to stick to it!

And, you are completely right–one splurge won’t hurt if you balance your intake out over time.
