Watching my little people grow

April 17, 2011

Morgan and I had some quality time together today. It’s rare for the two of us to spend time alone now that little sister is here….so it was nice to step out for a party with several of Morgan’s adorable little class mates today. The theme was “spring” and our little ones got their faces painted like bunnies, complete with bunny ears.

We enjoyed a “Peter Pan” style sword fight–using balloon swords. I could almost hear the balloon artist sigh when all of her beautiful tigers, puppies, bunnies, and teddy bears were tossed to the ground as the kids squabbled over three available swords. Fortunately, the woman quickly made a sword for everyone and we laughed to see our kids jumping up and down brandishing pink, purple, and green balloon swords and yelling “I am Peter Pan!” Turns out they had seen the Disney version on Friday for their movie day and it was fresh in everyone’s mind.

Since I wasn’t holding on to the Bug, I was able to chase everyone around yelling “Tick Tock! Tick Tock! I am the Crocodile!” It was fantastic to hear the giggles and whoops of delight as our little band of lost boys (and girls) vanquished me with swords.

I find myself savoring each and every moment. Morgan will be 4 in just a few short months…and Leighton Bug’s first birthday is just around the corner.

It all goes by  too fast if you ask me.

Sounds like a great birthday party! Poppy is obsessed with Peter Pan lately, so she would have loved to be involved in a balloon sword fight!

And I totally agree – they are growing up soooo fast!

What fun! The years go by too quickly, don’t they?! I find myself really savoring the times when I can spend alone time with Olive. It was so easy to take that time for granted before Ingrid came home, and now it’s so hard to come by!
