Salt, Dipped in chocolate!
(I love them!)
Um yeah, it is a weird title…but it pretty much describes the insane food cravings that I have been having over the past 9 weeks since beginning to breast feed.
I lost all but 3 lbs of my pregnancy weight in about 6 weeks…but now I find myself ravenous each and every day and dreaming about potato chips and my step mom’s frosted brownies. Tonight, I polished off a package of gourmet chocolate chip cookie dough–I’d been baking 3 (or 5!) per day and eating them hot and half raw….mmm….
I’m getting frustrated with the post baby bod, now. Even though the scale says that we are not too far off from the prepregnancy numbers it would appear that I have lost most of my muscle mass so that the weight that remains is untoned and well, ICK.
I’ve been looking at my diet for answers, and cringe to find that all of the good habits that I developed over the years studying nutrition are mostly in the past. I’ve managed to swap a mostly whole foods diet for something unrecognizable and quite over processed.
The old me had a pantry full of whole grains and a fridge full of fruits and veggies with some lean protein. The new me actually owns full fat everything and 4 different varieties of cheese. Some things I chalk up to having a toddler and a finicky hubby…but let’s be honest, I am the one who grocery shops and I am the one who plans the menus around here.
Realistically, I won’t make it to the gym for another month because my child care options until then are non-existent. Until then, I can only walk and do some at home exercises when time allows. I tried to jog the other day and I thought my hip would pop out of it’s socket and that my leg would be left lying in the road. My joints are still loose and crazy feeling. Baby steps are the only way things are going to come together.
