Look what came in the mail today!!

One of  my dearest friends sent me an early present to celebrate our baby–a beautiful Lockheart  bag designed by his cousin, Trang Huynh, formerly half of the genius partnership that created  the famous Isabella Fiore line .  The bag is so incredible that I jumped up and down like a 5 year old who had just gotten a pony for her birthday 🙂

This is something that I would totally have to covet from afar in my real life, and it just overwhelmed me when Phuong told me that his cousin insisted on giving me the bag free of charge from her Fall 2010 line.  Her designs are sold in Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus and other high end stores and each one is a unique work of art. Unlike many logo bags that are just predictable– Lockheart’s designs are fresh and original with a beauty that will  be cherished for years. The bag’s design was so thoughtfully chosen for me! Large enough to carry some baby essentials and in beautiful colors that I can enjoy for many years to come.

My friend Phuong and his wife Mary have been so special to me over the past 10 years. Phuong and I were battle buddies in the Army and I loved getting a crash course in Vietnamese culture when he would invite a big group of our friends to dine on Vietnamese “Family Dinners” on Sundays.  Along with learning to use chopsticks–I gained a huge appreciation for Vietnamese cuisine and the subtleties of seasonings that he would mix “Just so” before adding his own special touches to our food.  I was thrilled when he and his beautiful wife Mary welcomed their two boys….and bolstered through the hard times when we shared the loss of my first pregnancy.

Here we are after a week without a shower in the field at Camp Bullis, San Antonio 2001.

Little did I know that our families would be linked for life as my husband Jeremy and I decided to adopt from Vietnam nearly 6 years later.  Phuong was my advocate in our adoption as well! He and his wife Mary wrote a beautiful letter of recommendation for us and have been an invaluable resource whenever I have questions about customs/cultures.  They gently steer me where I need to go.

Here’s to the future!
