Happy Mother's Day!

May 11, 2010

My bug and his buddies having a great time playing with the balloons from our baby shower!

My boys treating me to a lovely mother’s day brunch.

I feel so very fortunate to have these guys in my life. Morgan woke me with a kiss on Sunday morning and said so perfectly “Happy Mother’s Day, Mama! I love you!”  I just melted!

Like many adoptive moms…I felt a pang in my heart thinking of Morgan’s first mother on this day. I am writing his report for Vietnam this week and I wonder if she will ever see these pictures of her son as he grows so quickly and amazes us all by the kind and caring boy he is becoming?

I wish that I could tell her how smart he is! He counted to twelve tonight while reading his Richard Scary Word Book with his daddy. He knows most of the animals in the pictures, blowing our minds when he makes such intuitive comments. I feel so much love and pride when I look at the two of them snuggled in Morgan’s little bed–reading together. I really enjoy when Morgan tells us “I read it to you now” and has such great recall that you would almost swear that he COULD read the pages.

I would tell his mom that when he cries at night–I rub his back and sing until he whispers “Go Away–Morgan tired” and I know that he will soon be fast asleep again.

If you are out there,  first Mommy…I love this little boy more than words and I am so grateful for the opportunity to raise him. I know that you would be incredibly proud of him, too!
